Paul Foad

Guitar and Music Theory Lecturer

Paul teaches Guitar and Music Theory for FE and MA modules at BIMM Music Institute Birmingham. With over 45 years of experience as a performer and recording artist, Paul oversees Live Performance Workshops and Jazz studies.

As a founder member of the iconic post-punk band Au Pairs, Paul appeared on the Old Grey Whistle Test and co-wrote two studio albums and a top 40 single. Later, Paul was the Guitarist in Jamaican Jazz saxophonist Andy Hamilton’s Blue Notes for 15 years and toured the national and international jazz festival scene playing with some of jazz music’s master musicians. Paul also authored the groundbreaking ‘CagedGuitarist’ teaching book and helps run the Silvershine Jazz club, where he is the guitarist in the Blue Notes house band.
